LASSIE at LED professional Symposium +Expo (LpS 2016)

lps-2016_lassie CSEM participated to the LpS 2016 in Bregenz (Austria) on 20-22 September 2016. Oscar Fernandez had the opportunity to present LASSIE on 21st September in the Session 3 – Technology & Design Day with a presentation entitled: Ultrathin Direct-lit LED Module with Beam Shaping Thin-film Optics. In the booth, organized in collaboration with Swiss Photonics and Austria Photonics, the LASSIE rollup and some demonstrators were shown.

M30 meeting is over

LASSIE-FP7 M30 consortium meeting took place on 7 – 8 July 2016 in Avezzano, Italy.  During the meeting, progress of the individual work packages has been presented and steps toward the development of the final demo have been outlined in detail.  Student design competition an aim of which is to define alternative and innovative applications, products and new design concepts for either professional or architectural luminaires that integrate LED innovative modules was finalized during the event.  Click HERE for further information about the competition rules. LASSIE-FP7 Workshop took place in L’Aquila

LFoundry S.r.l., a member of the LASSIE-FP7 consortium, organised a workshop on 6 July 2016 at the University of L’Aquila, Italy. The event provided insights into the progress and challenges of the research on Large Area Solid State Intelligent Efficient Luminaries.  As the research is coming to its end, Rolando Ferrini of CSEM, LASSIE-FP7 coordinator, and his project fellow researchers of BASF, Fraunhofer IIS+IISB, VTT, REGENT LIGHTING, GAIKER and LFoundry have presented some of the partial results reached.  Lighting technologies trends, market outlook and research projects funding options have been presented by Elena Turco of AMIRES. Some key points mentioned:

  • LASSIE-FP7 LED modules are set to reinforce competitive advantage of industries and create jobs.
  • LASSIE-FP7 LEDs can be used for large areas luminaries, at low cost, having intelligence embedded, demonstrating high efficiency and quality, and being environmental.
  • New technologies enabling large format optical sensors and individual optimization of sensor and readout circuitry processes are to be presented soon.

LASSIE invited at the OSA Solid State Lighting (SSL) conference

The project coordinator, Dr. Rolando Ferrini, was invited as speaker of the Optical Society (OSA) SSL conference, to be held in Leipzig (Germany) on 14-17 November 2016. LASSIE project will be presented in a speech entitled Large area intelligent efficient high quality solid state lighting. Further information about the event can be found HERE.

LpS 2016 with LASSIE-FP7 on board

LpS 20166th International LED professional Symposium +Expo (LpS 2016) takes place from 20 to 22 September 2016 in Bregenz, Austria. “Trends and Technologies for Future Lighting Solutions” in the fields of general, industrial and architectural lighting will be the major topics in Bregenz. The LpS 2016 event will emphasize “Smart Technologies for Lighting Innovations” and cover the latest trends in applications. Multiple sessions, workshops and the exhibition area will be organized. CSEM paper was selected for oral presentation. More information on the event can be found here.

Smart Lighting 2016

Smart-Lighting-300x170Smart Lighting & Smart Sensing Conference & Expo 2016 will be held in Milan from 24 to 26 May 2016. Stephan Junger from Fraunhofer Gesellschaft prepared an abstract on LASSIE-FP7 results which was accepted. Presentation will be given in one of the parallel sessions of Smart Sensing Conference. Light + Building 2016

Light BuildingThe world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology, Light + Building 2016, takes place in Frankfurt am Main from 13 to 18 March 2016. The motto of Light + Building 2016 is ‘digital – individual – networked’. These three aspects are the keystones for the creation of ‘modern spaces’ that also contribute to an improved quality of life. The most important visitor target groups are architects, interior architects, designers, planners, engineers, artisans, the distributive trades and industry. Several LASSIE-FP7 representatives are participating in the event to find out what are the trends in the lighting sector and to have a technical meeting there. You can find more information about the event on its website.

LASSIE-FP7 co-organizes a workshop on Smart Lighting

Smart-Bulbs-for-Smart-Homes-2Swissphotonics (the Swiss national thematic network for photonics) and the Swiss National Laboratory for Solid State Lighting (SSSL), the Institute of Condensed Matter Physics ICMP of EPFL together with LASSIE-FP7 project and CSEM (the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology) organise a workshop focused on Smart Lighting on 30 October 2015 in Forum – Rolex Learning Center, EPFL in Lausanne. This is the follow-up of the Workshop on Large-area SSL held last year in Muttenz. Very interesting topics such as Digital lighting, Current and future technologies (LEDs/OLEDs, Laser lighting) or LED and human concerns will be discussed. Color sensors for smart lighting applications will be presented by Dr. Stephan Junger, Work Package Leader in LASSIE-FP7 project. Dr. Rolando Ferrini, LASSIE-FP7 coordinator, will moderate the event.
